All participants will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the audition and first rehearsal. Transportation cannot be provided to cast and crew members.

Auditioning for Shrek the Musical JR. can be a challenging experience. That’s why we have prepared the following excerpts to help you get ready to “Break a leg.”  Feel free to print what you need to get prepared for your audition. Each page has a print button.

All cast members will be singing and need to prepare the excerpts from the following song: Finale (the ALL part). Also, all cast members need to be familiar with the Ensemble part from this link. All cast members should be prepared to demonstrate their dancing ability. Everyone who auditions should be prepared to learn and duplicate a jazz combination and tap combination. These will be used to assess the ability and range of the participant. Previous dance experience is helpful, but not required for the audition.

Each character has a breakdown, sides (SCRIPT), and a small excerpt from the score with which to rehearse your audition. These need to be prepared in addition to the songs and script excerpt mentioned above. The links will direct you to the appropriate rehearsal information. We will have musical accompaniment tracks during the rehearsal and performance. You will notice that to keep the size of the cast smaller, we have combined some roles to provide a more challenging and engaging experience for all participants.

In addition to cast members, we are also looking for a few crew members to help with staging, costumes, ushering, and other tasks.

There will be 2-3 reading rehearsals for script, music, and choreography in December before Christmas.

Regular rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights from 6-8p, starting December 27, 2018. We also might have two Saturday morning (9-11a) workshops in January for concentrated cast rehearsals.

Performances will be January 25 (7p), January 26 (7p), January 27 (2p), January 31 (7p), February 1 (7p), and two performances on February 2 (2p and 7p). All cast and crew need to be available for the majority of rehearsals and all of the performances.
